Raleigh Miami
Raleigh Miami
This striking aerial photograph captures a corner of the art deco pool of the Raleigh Hotel in Miami with its pool bari standing silent and empty of guests. Designed by L. Murray Dixon, the Raleigh Hotel in the Art Deco style first opened in 1940 and had multiple owners until it closed after extended damage from Hurricane Irma in 2017. The unique, curving shape of the pool and its vibrant blue tiles immediately draw the eye, creating a stunning contrast against the soft pastel colors of the surroundings. Despite its current state of disuse, the beauty and grandeur of this historic swimming pool are unmistakable, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era of glamour and sophistication, which will soon come back to life after a comprehensive renovation of the hotel.
